Get Down With Teh sIcknEss.

Posted in Cool Things, Life, My work by Josie Wolf on May 15th, 2008

I’m sick, yep me of all people, oh this week keeps getting better. My laptop has been at the company since Tuesday and has just gone into repair, so much for that getting it back faster, hopefully it will get back to GeekSquad by sunday and then all I would have to worry about is getting over whatever this sickness is.

I forgot to mention in my mini biography I rarely get sick, the only time I really catch anything other than a small cold or a headache is when it is pasted to me from someone else. In this case it was passed to me by my dad. I have a huge headache, a running nose, a stuffed nose, my body is hot, eyes are watering, ears feel like they are gonna bust and Im sneezing like crazy. I should be on bed rest but I am a fighter, I am doing what I always do when im sick, keeping the movement up so I can get my body working stronger against it. Yes it doesn’t have to make sense it works for me.

Now in the last blog i said I would be working on some new pieces, I have finished them and will be starting some more pieces, I just have to wait to show you guys because I used some stock from deviantart in which I have to ask permission to post on my blog but keep in mind I will show you guys =).

Intill next time, this is Wolf. Now let me get back to drinking my cranberry juice.

Big changed ahead! Laptop information.

Well lets begin with my laptop shell we? If you have been following like lots of you have, you know that my laptop has had problems, okay a little more than problems, with two sound problems in two weeks. First one where my headphone jack was broken and not allowing some audio to make it through to my headphones.

The second being that my HD Manger seems to think that I have headphones in but the I don’t. So, as I said I would, I took it back up there yesterday (Sunday). So I’m basically back on my sisters computer, my old computer. They said I have first priority but I think they were just trying to cover their asses. Overnight deliver is good, my laptop has already gotten to the repair center.

Hopefully I won’t get it back screwed up again, or else I’ll be raising some hell.

I’ll be trying to post some work soon, I’m going to take my time on it. I need to install my photo editing software on this pc, which I haven’t done yet. I was really hoping to wait till I got my laptop fixed but after it came back and being broke again I just can’t. I have so many stocks I want to use, and I have ideas that I don’t want to lose.

As you may have noticed, and one of the big changes, the name of the site has changed to Maxus Ghost, which is the name of my design group that I will be creating. I also have changed my username to Josie Wolf, Which will make no sense but thats another blog post. When I get close to it I’ll tell you.

Shiftie Video

That is Shift Linux, I made a crappy preview because I thought the trolls might want one, I’m sorry about Quality and my voice being shaky I was nervious haven’t really made many videos, but I will be making more.

Basically to start off Shift Linux is made by the guys over at Neowin, it is based, built ontop of Ubuntu, allowing it to use any software that Ubuntu can use. It comes preinstalled with enough software for all your computer needs tho, the blue theme is just that a theme and is very easy to change, I really must say I like their version of firefox better than the real beta, which reminds me their firefox is version 3.5 beta, hopefully they will keep up with the beta’s so we can have duel updates.

Coming with the regular games, blackjack, chess, and mines along with more, Shift made a shiftie move and dropped Open Office from the linux and adding abiword instead. On the disc it is slow if you want to just run it off of it, but installed on a pc it is blazing fast, faster than my friends mac. With themes already being made for this, the future is looking bright for the new linux on the block.

Stop by Neowin and give them a round of applause, what else? gDesklets thats what, given windows and mac both have widgets they have added that in now your Linux can have widgets too, I know it probably existed before, but coming preinstalled, never seen it. If I’m wrong comment and I’ll fix this.

Heres a list from the site of stuff that comes with Shift Linux.

  • gDesklets - Eye Candy Widgets
  • GIMP - Image Editor
  • XSane - Image scanning program
  • gThumb - Image Viewer
  • xpdf - PDF Viewer
  • Pidgin - Internet Messsenger
  • GnomeMeeting - Internet Telephony
  • Gwget - Download Manager
  • Liferea - Feed Reader
  • XChat - IRC Client
  • gFTP - FTP Client
  • AbiWord - Word Processor
  • Gnumeric - Spreadsheet
  • Rhythmbox - Media Player
  • VLC - Multimedia Player
  • and much more.

If you have checked out my About Me! page you know there was nothing there, well now with a name change. You’ll be surprised to know that I have updated it, giving you details on where my nicknames come from, a short biography, my stance on religion, education, and my ethnicity.

I have also upload a picture of myself and my signature. I will be working on another page for my Art profile.

No update on my laptop tho sorry. Well I’ll probably be blogging more later.

I told you I’d be back tonight. Well I tried to install linux on my pc, and it worked in that but linux would not install on my acer pc, I’m going to end up taking it in on sunday.

Now for a quick shout out, the linux that I installed was Shift Linux, http://www.shiftlinux.net. It is made by the guys over at Neowin, look them up. It was pretty good overall, I loved the color theme for both the OS and Firefox, which they offer a modded version of.

I have a idea for a new piece which I’m going to work on soon, maybe I have to reinstall my graphics software.

Laptop Update, I have it back but I have to ship it back off.

I got it back ofcourse, but it was broken even worst than it was before. Heres some information you may or may not have known. I sent my laptop off because when I plugged in any external  hardware [Headphones and Speakers] the sound would come out grainy, or would only come out partially. I took it to Geek Squad, which doesn’t really know what its talking about by the way, and they sent it off to Acer.

Well I got it back yesterday, and now I have to send it off again for another problem sound related. Its even worst than the problem I had before, because now I can’t hear anything from any external devices.

Picture this, Getting your laptop back than plugging in your headphones. You turn on your music and you hear sound, but its not coming from the headphones but the laptops speakers, thats what has happen to me. When I plug in my headphones the Realtek HD Manger brings up a buble thats says “A jack has been unplugged.”  Yes, uplugged. When I unplug my headphones, it pops up the exact opposite. “A jack has been plugged in.” Yepo, it fucking thinks I have headphones plugged in when I unplug my headphones. So I basically have to have my headphones in to hear any sound and the sound isn’t even from my headphones.

So I call up Geek Squad, who as I said doesn’t know shit. Told them my problem explained what I had done to try and fix it. Heres how this conversation went down, I know because I have one of the best memories ever when it comes to quotes.

“Hello” - Okami

“Hello this is Geek Squad support how may I help you, also may I have your name.” - Male Geek Squad Employee

“William (C), Yes I have a problem with my Acer laptop, I sent it off with you guys and got it back yesterday, but now it seems their is a even worst sound problem. Whenever I plug my headphones in a bubble pops up saying that I have just unplugged a jack. I basically can only listen to audio with my headphones plugged in but coming from the laptops speakers, because when I unplugged my headphones. It thinks then that I have plugged my headphones in.”

“Okay William you …” - I cut him off

“Hold on let me explain what I have tried, I used my acer disc to reinstall the OS three times, I have also tried another OS, Different Headphones, Two pairs of speakers, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver three times, one for the newest copy on the website, once to install a older version of the driver, and once from off the acer website. From what I have read on the web, Realtek HD has Auto Sensing component which allows it to know when I have a driver plugged in,  this problem has happened to other people because the Auto Sense has went out of control and started thinking the opposite of what was happening, the way they fixed it was thanks to something inside the HD Manager that allowed them to set up manually weather of not they had a external device plugged in, but it just so happened that I do not have that switch.”

“Auto Sensing …. Ye..ah your gonna have to bring that in, if we can’t fix it here we’ll have to send it off. Sorry about that, have a nice day”

-End Call

Did you see that, he had no clue what was going on. Geek Squad, is a bunch of spoiled kids that think they know everything because they have Geek on their name tag, except, my friend josh.

I had planned on making some new pieces to get back into the grove before going to Full Sail, I still probably will but I will have to without music [Sad Face]. Intill next time my little trolls, which will probably be later tonight.
